16. Question: Is it really so hard to receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit that one must beg God for this gift?
Answer: No! It is not something which we need to beg God for and nor do we need to stand in a prayer line waiting for some Preacher to lay hands on us in order for us to receive this gift. And if I might caution you, I will just cut right to the point and tell you that one must be very careful about letting these Charismatic Con Artist lay hands upon them to receive some sort of experience that will make them speak in tongues as a proof of their spirituality. It is a very dangerous thing to worship the gifts rather than the Giver. Because when your motives are so carnal and self centered, you might very well get a counterfeit spirit that will satisfy your every religious expectation but it will not be the Person of the Holy Spirit who fills your heart.
Yet if you need comfort in your afflictions and an anointing to give you direction in order to walk uprightly and not be mislead. If you need strength to face the battle or wisdom to search out the riches of Jesus Christ from God's Word. If you need power to witness and testify in order to be a better Minister and servant of God and you need help to overcome temptations. It's all yours for the asking. For Jesus made it so plain and simple when He said:
“And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” Luke 11:9-13
