12. Question: Are there any verses in the Bible which define actual evidence that one has received the Holy Spirit?
Answer: Yes! According to the testimony of Jesus Christ, the true evidence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Believer is that He (The Holy Spirit) shall teach them (The Believers) all things and bring to their remembrance the Words of the Lord Jesus Christ. As it is written:
"But the Comforter, who is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." John 14:26
The Apostle John also confirms this fact when he wrote: "But the anointing which you have received of him abides in you, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, you shall abide in him." 1st John 2:27
If I might add a word of caution, it is our own personally responsibility to prayerfully read the Bible for ourselves to know what Jesus has said unto us in His Word. For in so doing we are giving the Holy Spirit a greater treasury of the Gospel light within us so that He might bring to our remembrance all that Jesus has said when needed. And as we see, the Apostle John went on to write that we have no need that any man teach us, but this same anointing of the Holy Spirit would teach us of all things.
Now before any one thinks that I am contending that we need no Ministry of teaching, I am not saying that at all and nor is the Apostle John. Because in the preceding verse we read: “These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.” 1st John 2:26
And that which John is telling us is not that there is no place for Pastor/teachers; but rather, he is stressing the fact that in light of the threat of deceiving seducers, we are not left dependant upon the teaching ministries of men. Thus, what he is telling us, is that we have a guide and teacher in the Holy Spirit and if we wish to remain in the truth and to abide in Him, then we must study the Word of God for ourselves and depend upon the anointing to teach us all things. That way when we receive the teaching ministries of men, we already know the Word of God and can better discern if they are teaching us in truth or error.
And if I might comment, there is something very warped and wrong with every professing Christian that I have ever known who replaces personal Bible Study with watching and/or listening to “Christian” television and/or radio on a daily basis. [Please Note: I'm not saying that every T.V. or Radio Ministry is warped.] I’ve noticed that when speaking to such people about matters pertaining to the spiritual things of God, they seem to be totally clueless. And it is far deeper and more serious than just a matter of doctrinal differences. Such people actually have no spiritual capacity to even comprehend the true holiness and Character of God. In that they seem to be reprobate concerning those things which differ between the holy and the profane because there is no fear of God before their eyes.
And I realize that this is a very serious charge to make, but it is the truth nonetheless. Such people seem to have no fear of irreverence as they speak contemptuously against sound Bible knowledge and against those who follow true righteousness. We live in a perilous hour when the Church at large is full of such reprobates from the leadership down to the last pew. And when trying to reason with such against the way of perdition which they have chosen, it’s like trying to speak to aliens from another world. They just look at you sideways and you know that they do not even begin to understand what you are saying and in many cases nor do they want to.
And I’ve tried to be fair and listen to such people defend their errors and justify their actions before reasoning with them from the Scriptures about their state of deception, but everything that comes out of their mouths is a lie that contradicts God’s Word from beginning to end. And then they proceed to twist every verse I read by misinterpreting it into conformity with their ungodly religious life styles. And if you read another verse which contradicts their interpretation of the last verse they have twisted, such people will then misinterpret that verse into conformity with the misinterpretation of the last verse they twisted no matter how illogical they may sound. So you just have to walk away realizing that such are self condemned heretics who are cursed to die lost in the perdition of a counterfeit Christian delusion that can only lead to their destruction in eternal hell fire.
“But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.” Titus 3:9-11
Yet such a curse does not come causeless, for behind all their delusions of theology there is an idolatry to worldliness which such have sold their souls to practice. And this is the reason why they will not listen unto, and why they refuse to hear any true Believer who threatens their idolatry to worldliness. Simply put, they are of the world and not of God. As it is written:
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.” 1st John 4:4-6
And I’ve watched such “Christians” who have absolutely no shame in dragging the Word of God through the sewers of their worldly theologies in order to justify their ungodly life styles. Yet when confronted with a Word of reproof such people will actually roll their eyes and blush as they walk away scoffing in mockery against Jesus Christ and His Word. And would to God they were blushing in shame over their sins, but in fact they blush because they are so ashamed and embarrassed by the true Word of God.
This is why it is so spiritually dangerous to allow mere men to act as mediators between ourselves and God when it comes to the teaching ministry of His Word. And why I would caution anyone against watching and/or listening to any Christian Media Ministry unless that individual is prayerfully studying the Bible for themselves on a daily basis. Because while I’m certain that not all Media Ministries are bad. I am also certain that without partaking of our daily bread we can become spiritually famished and weakened in our ability to discern the truth against error.
Another danger I see which perverts the minds of Christians against walking in the teaching anointing of the Holy Spirit, is that of reading and studying from perverted Bible versions. And yes, I am an Old King James Authorized Version Only Bible Believer. Yet in my case, I was never won over to the Old King James Version by man. For me it was simply a matter of being told by God that the Old King James Bible was His true Word and I was never to turn from it to any other version. This happened while I was seeking God to be saved and could not find Him in any of the other Bibles I was trying to read. As a matter of fact, I did not even know there was an ongoing debate over Bible versions. All I knew was that I found the bread and water of spiritual life and truth in reading the Old Authorized King James Version through which I was also saved.
As for me personally, I can not even read any other version of the Bible but the Authorized Old King James Version. Because to be completely honest, there is a divine thread of Scriptural harmony, glorious truth and wondrous revelation that runs through the Old King James Version that is not found in any other version. And when I hear others reading from their other Bible perversions, I immediately know that they are in error simply because the Holy Spirit quickens the true rendering of what they are reading into my mind from the Old King James. And without fail I immediately recognize the difference in the false rendering of certain words that have been either changed or even completely omitted in some cases; which in turn causes the Scriptures which they are reading to lose their meaning in relation to other Scriptures. And the consequence of these changes and omissions is that they actually have the effect of destroying the harmony, truth and revelation that those Scriptures were intended by God to convey. Thus, in effect and spiritually speaking, these perversions of the Bible are like bottles of deadly spiritual poison which are being thrown into the cascading waters of the River of Life that is the Ministry of God’s Word.
In no way do I wish to speak disparagingly against those who read and/or study these other Bible versions. I have absolutely nothing to argue about or to prove to anyone here. In fact, my greatest desire would be that God would use my personal testimony to open the eyes of any doubters to see the Spiritual Supremacy and Preeminent Perfection of the Old King James Bible. Yet I will testify that a relative once came by speaking about this subject in a very contemptuous manner against “narrow minded” Believer’s like myself who only trust the Old King James Bible. And so I brought up the fact that I’ve been in Churches where the Pastor has read from another Bible version and it only caused confusion for those who read from differing versions. And I myself did not appreciate hearing the way that this Pastor’s Bible perversion mutilated the Scriptures by changing them into such an unrecognizable account of God’s Word.
Yet instead of seeing my point, this relative went on to say that at his Church everyone takes turns reading the same Scriptures from the many different Bible versions that are present. And that by so doing, everyone hears a different interpretation and thereby gains a better understanding of the Bible that is not limited to just one Bible version’s view point.
After hearing this, I felt very disturbed in my spirit and walked into my bedroom where I was lead to pray about what I could say to answer this person’s delusion. It was not that I wanted to prove a point or have the last word. I just honestly feel wounded in my spirit every time I hear or read any thing which debases or attacks the authority of the Old King James Bible. And as I prayed, the Lord led me to pick up my Bible and just open it. And when I did, the following Scripture almost jumped off the page at me as I opened my Bible up to this exact page of Scripture and my eyes landed on the exact verse which answered my prayer by giving me something to answer my relative’s delusion. That verse was 1st Corinthians 1:10 and it is written:
“Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” 1st Corinthians 1:10
So in conclusion, I personally believe that one sure evidence that a person has received the Holy Spirit, will be that such an individual will naturally develop a hunger for the sincere milk of the Word of God. And they may even start out looking to the Ministries of men along with personal Bible study to feed that hunger just like a babe looks its elders to change their bottles. Yet as the Child of God grows in spirit; so likewise, their hunger will grow toward the Bread of Life and true Meat of God’s Word, in that, they will become less dependant upon the milk of other’s teachings and will only be satisfied with their own personal communion with God by His Spirit through prayerful study of His Word.
And as a result of being lead by the Spirit of God and taught by His anointing, such individuals will begin to see through the shallow and counterfeit teachings of most of today’s Christian Media Ministers and they will naturally be lead to the Authorized Old King James Version of the Bible by not only conviction, but out of their own necessity to spiritually survive in these days of famine for hearing the Word of God.
And while it is really the mark of true spiritual maturity to be this dependant upon the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, and even more so when it is to the exclusion of the majority of men’s ministries and their teachings due to such wide spread apostasy and deception. Such seasoned Believers usually find themselves being misjudged as unteachable loners and unsubmissive rebels by those apostate deceivers in leadership over the Religious System who also slander such seasoned Believers as being on the religious lunatic fringe. So cheer up if you are such a Believer and are always finding yourself thus misunderstood and misjudged. You are not crazy after all, because it is still written:
“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” Matthew 5:10-12
