Escaped Convict

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the alter? What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? But I say, that the things the gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye can not drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye can not be partakers of the Lord's table, and the table of devils. Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?” 1st Corinthians 10:13-22

I was once imprisoned in darkness
chained by the shackles of my sin
Yet Jesus washed me in His blood
and cleansed my stains so deep within

No longer shackled or bound in prison
nor in darkness do I abide
For I escaped the day I repented
because for me this Jesus died

For at the Cross, yes at the Cross
God's crimson flow still sets men free
For at the Cross Satan still trembles
as addictions falter and demons flee

Demons flee, yes demons flee
for Jesus Christ still sets men free
Addictions are gone and my blind eyes see
for upon His Word I stand, and His blood I plead

Through the Blood, yes through the Blood
now the Blood of Christ I plead
For though I was guilty without no hope
Jesus Christ still set me free

Though condemned and facing death
I am now a witness for my KING
For now the Judge is my Father
and His own Son pleads my case for me

I am free, yes I am free
The Gospel of Christ still sets men free
O Sinner come to be washed in the blood
of the glorious gospel stream

There is still power in the blood
Deliverance, healing and restoration divine
I'm not ashamed to preach the old rugged Cross
for I am now His and He is now mine.

“Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” 2nd Peter 1:1-11
